- ½ teaspoon Nutmeg freshly grated
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 150 grams of Dark brown sugar
- 175 grams of Butter at room temperature
- ½ tablespoon Almond extract (optional)
- 4 Eggs or Condensed Milk (for eggless cake)
Preparation method for the Christmas cake –
- Take a saucepan and add little rum/ wine/ brandy or apple juice. Start boiling it at lower heat by adding fruits, orange peel, and nuts into it. Cook for 10 minutes longer.
- After that switch, if the flame and keep aside for 1-2 hours and refrigerate it for about 24 hours.
- As you are ready for baking the plum cake, before starting preheat the oven to about 160 °C / 320°F. Line an 8-inch springform cake pan with parchment paper, assuring the edges are higher than the cake tin.

- Pour the batter into the buttered cake pan and bake for nearly 90 minutes.
- Around the 80-minute point, begin checking for doneness. Because it bakes long and slow, this cake can take up to 2 hours in some ovens.
- After 80 minutes, use your best judgment and check in 10-15 minute intervals.
- Make sure to let the cake cool in the tin for about 10 minutes, then remove it from the tin or by releasing the sides of the springform tin and allowing it to cool completely.
